Our Training Pedigree

At Richard Burke Partnership we have been successfully presenting seminars and in-house training on Contracts and Claims in Construction for more than 20 years. Our ability to impart techniques, skill and knowledge in this field stems from our core business of consistently securing contract entitlements and time and cost claims for our clients worldwide. Our successful techniques will be explained to the delegates attending our range of course modules. Outline notes are provided to delegates, in a form which are intended to be augmented by the delegates’ own personal notes of particular interest and relevance, during the sessions; the notes will serve as a valuable reference guide to revisit in practice, long after the training sessions are finished.

Please follow the links below for details of our most popular courses. For rates and available calendar dates, please phone our Edinburgh office, or eMail us with your enquiry.

MODULE1 - Commercial & Contractual Awarenesss
MODULE2 - Securing Extensions of Time & Avoiding Liquidated Damages
MODULE3 - Successful Cost Claims & the Records to Prove Them

The training for these modules is given in the form of seminars, which include Q&A sessions, so that delegates can obtain clarification and raise specific project issues they may have, which relate to the training topics.
Courses are typically arranged from 0930 – 1700, with breaks between lectures, mid morning, lunch time and mid afternoon.

Typically our clients present 20 – 30 delegates for each training module.

The training seminars are delivered by Richard Burke RBP’s Managing Director or Bruce Petersen, our senior Legal Consultant. In addition RBP’s trainer will be assisted by an administrator. Some clients prefer to nominate one of their own staff to help with administration of the course, as this reduces the course fees charged by RBP (see Fees & Expenses section).

Bruce Petersen is the author of the book, Construction and Engineering Contracts Claims and Disputes – A Guidebook for Contractors, published 2010. His book consolidates extensive research and first hand experience in construction claims and dispute management and material from the book is used throughout our training modules. Copies of the guidebook are available to purchase at special rates for training course delegates.
